What’s Included
- 70 ct sugar free cough drops
During Basic Training, Soldiers sleep in open bays with many other trainees. If one person gets sick, it often spreads quickly through the bay. Hours of running, shouting cadence, dust, and lack of sleep can also leave throats dry and sore. Ask anyone who went through Basic Training. Cough drops are gold. We follow common Basic Training mail rules by including sugar free menthol cough drops. If you prefer flavored cough drops, we also offer blackberry and honey lemon options. However, we cannot guarantee that flavored cough drops will be accepted by every unit or Drill Sergeant. - 20 moleskin pads
New military boots and long days on their feet can quickly lead to painful blisters. After dinner, when everyone is finally resting in the bay, one of the first things many trainees do is check their feet. They worry about infections. They worry about tomorrow’s ruck with the same blisters. Moleskin quickly becomes one of the most appreciated things a trainee can have. Please send moleskin to your loved one as early as possible. Moleskin helps reduce friction inside military boots and can help prevent painful blisters before they get worse. We specifically chose First Aid Only moleskin pads because they are thick, dependable, and easy to use. The pre-cut pads can be applied quickly without scissors or extra tools, which matters during Basic Training when trainees have very limited personal items and little time to deal with blister care. - Anti-chafe stick
Helps reduce discomfort during long training days, running, rucking, and constant movement. - SPF 50 sunscreen stick
Basic Training means long hours outside during ruck marches, field exercises, PT, and training days under the sun. This pocket ready twist-up sunscreen stick is easy to carry, quick to apply, and water resistant for active outdoor training environments. - Two 4×4 printed photos from home
Printed on real photo paper to give your SIT a small piece of home to hold on to during training.
Why Families Send This Package
Basic Training is physically and emotionally demanding. Small comfort items can make a big difference when your SIT is tired, sore, and far from home. The printed photos and personal note also give them a reminder that people back home are thinking about them every day.
Shipped with Basic Training Mail Rules in Mind
We ship using USPS or UPS depending on the shipping option you choose. Rules can vary by base, battalion, company, battery, or troop, so we keep the package simple, practical, and easy to receive during Basic Training.
Fast Shipping
Orders placed before 3 PM ET Monday through Saturday ship the same day. Delivery to the base usually takes about 2 to 3 days, but final delivery to your SIT depends on when their Drill Sergeants distribute mail.
Before You Order
Please make sure you have your SIT’s correct mailing address before placing your order. If you are still waiting for the scripted phone call with their address, you may want to prepare your photos and personal message ahead of time so you can order as soon as you receive it.

FAQs

Why send a care package if SITs already have access to the PX?
Many Soldiers in Training (SITs) do have access to the PX (Post Exchange) eventually, but usually only every couple of weeks and often for a very limited amount of time. Even when they do get the chance to shop, they may not have enough time to look around or find exactly what they need.
The bigger issue is that many SITs do not realize what they need until training starts taking a toll on them. Blisters from new boots, dry or sore throats from constant outdoor training and cadence calls, and general physical exhaustion can hit fast during those first weeks of Basic Training.
That is why items like moleskin and cough drops become so valuable. By the time they realize they need them, they often wish they already had them waiting in their locker.
We strongly recommend sending a basic must have care package as soon as you receive their mailing address, even if you do not yet know their platoon information. You can always send additional personal items later, but having these essentials early can make a real difference during those difficult first weeks of training.
That is exactly why we created the care packages at Ruck Circle to help families quickly send the essentials their SIT may not realize they need yet.

Can I send flavored cough drops to my SIT?
It depends on the training unit and the Drill Sergeants. Some companies, batteries, or troops may allow flavored cough drops, while others may confiscate or throw them away. For that reason, our standard package includes menthol cough drops because they are usually the safest choice for Basic Training. If you would like Honey Lemon or Blackberry instead, we can switch them for you upon request. However, by choosing flavored cough drops, you understand and accept the risk that they may not be allowed by the training staff. If flavored cough drops are rejected, confiscated, or discarded during training, Ruck Circle cannot issue refunds for those items.

Which shipping carriers does Ruck Circle use?
Ruck Circle offers two shipping options: USPS Priority Mail Cubic and UPS. You can choose your preferred shipping carrier during checkout.
-
How long does it take for my SIT to receive the package?
Ruck Circle ships packages daily from Monday through Saturday. Most packages arrive at the military base within 2 to 3 business days after shipment. However, arrival at the base does not always mean your SIT will receive the package immediately. Package distribution depends on the Drill Sergeants and the training unit. Some companies distribute mail once a week, while others may distribute it more frequently. Because each company, battery, or troop handles mail differently, we cannot guarantee exactly when your SIT will receive their package after it arrives on base.

My SIT already packed cough drops and moleskin before shipping out. Should I still send more?
Yes, we still recommend sending them early. During Reception and the first days of training, SITs often have very little time to unpack their personal backpacks. In many cases, they only have time to pull out the most essential items before their bags are locked away for the rest of training.
That means even if your SIT packed cough drops or moleskin before shipping out, they may not actually have access to them during Basic Training.
You can wait for the next phone call before sending other items they may request later, such as extra razors, boots, or personal supplies. But once you have their mailing address, our advice is to send cough drops and moleskin as early as possible so they already have them when training starts getting tough.
