You Received Your Soldier's Address. What Should You Do Next?

You finally got the call. You have your Soldier's mailing address.

Now what?

The first thing many families do is save the address and wait for their Soldier to ask for something. But during the first few weeks of Basic Training, your Soldier may not know what they need yet, or they may not have the time to ask.

Instead of waiting to send a letter or a small package, consider making a care package your first priority. Sending useful items right away helps your Soldier have what they need before small problems become bigger challenges.

Basic Training moves fast.

By the time your Soldier has phone privileges and calls home, they may already be dealing with the challenges of training: early morning workouts in cold weather, constant yelling and cadence, long days of physical training, and living closely with other Soldiers in the bay where germs can spread quickly.

Many Soldiers don't realize they need small comfort items until they are already uncomfortable.

They may already have:

  • A sore throat from training and the weather
  • Blisters from breaking in new boots
  • Dry skin or other small discomforts from daily routines

That is why timing matters.

Once you receive your Soldier's address, consider sending their first care package right away. Having useful items available before they need them can make those first weeks a little easier.

Ruck Circle makes it simple. Our care packages are prepared and shipped the same day, so you can send support without waiting.

Your Soldier may not ask for cough drops, moleskin, or other essentials. But as a family member, you can help them be prepared before they even realize they need it.

A small package from home can mean a lot during Basic Training.
